Webinar Description:
This webinar is the first of a two-part series that will provide an overview of ITE’s Preemption of Traffic Signals Near Railroad Grade Crossings Manual. This first session will provide an overview of the importance of preemption of nearby traffic signals and when it should be provided. Content will include the different types of preemption (simultaneous and advance) and their applicability including overcoming some common misconceptions and design limitations. The webinar will also discuss various methods available to the practitioner for determining preemption times, highlighting methods and tools utilized for the evaluation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate the benefits of preemption of traffic signals near grade crossings and when to apply it
  • Understand the different types of preemption available and design complexities for each
  • Know the various methods available for determining the preemption time(s) for a grade crossing

The webinar recording will be made available on-demand it will have a shelf life of 60 days to register before it is archived.
